
New to the Orange City Tulip Festival
Orange City, IA – Discover our Dutch corner of the world when
the Orange City Tulip Festival, comes alive with color May 14, 15 and 16th.
This free cultural celebration will feature thousands of tulip varieties in
a kaleidoscope of colors. The floral show and authentic Dutch festival, will
be complemented for the first time by unique and entertaining events you
don’t want to miss!
The tulip festival offers fans of the flower a chance to see
the latest varieties up close, and embrace the change from winter blahs to
springtime ahhs with special events throughout the three-day festival.
Author’s Corner Debuts
The Midwest’s outstanding authors will come together for three days of book signings in our Author’s Corner. Come meet Vicki Myron, author of the New York Times Hardcover Non-Fiction Bestseller, Dewey. Myron worked at the Spencer Public Library for 25 years, the last 20 years as its director. Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World, written with Bret Witter, is her account of the unforgettable cat that became a fixture at the library. The Author’s Corner will be open from 10:00am – 1:00pm and 4:00 – 6:00pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday and located in the basement of Northwestern State Bank, south of the Windmill Park Information Booth.
Remedy Drive
A
four-piece, four-brother band (David, Philip, Paul and Dan Zach),
Remedy Drive has been cranking out their own brand of music as a
full time indie for the past 5 years. A nationally recognized Christian
band, Remedy Drive, will be providing a FREE concert at the Windmill Band
Shell on Friday Evening.
Musical Night Show
On Wednesday, May 13th the Tulip Festival Night
Show opens with “Brigadoon.” This charming musical is the story of two
cynical hunters from New York City who stumble upon the ethereal village of
Brigadoon which materializes from the mists only one day each hundred years.
One of the hunters falls in love and he must decide whether to stay with her
forever or return to civilization. Come to “Brigadoon” and let the magic
capture your imagination. Performances nightly at 8pm. Tickets available at
the Windmill Information Booth or call (712) 707-4510.
Additional Events Bloom
In addition to the
excitement surrounding the visual splendor of entertainment
and flowers, this annual springtime event blossoms with
non-stop fun: parades, carnival rides, children’s activities and a tour of
the town in a beautiful hand-painted, horse-drawn trolley. Enjoy old
fashioned games and Dutch treats at the Straatmarkt. Don’t miss the 2nd
Annual Car Show, which is sure to be bigger and better than ever. The Orange
City Tulip Festival has something for everyone!
