A Message from 2020 Chairs
To our faithful Tulip Festival community,
Over the course of the last month, the Tulip Festival Executive Steering Committee has been meeting regularly to monitor the COVID-19 situation in our region and across the country to assess its impact on the 2020 Orange City Tulip Festival. These are unprecedented times, and due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, we feel it is in the best interest of our festival visitors and volunteers to forego the festival celebrations scheduled for May 14, 15 and 16, 2020. This is a decision we make with heavy hearts but also with the utmost concern for the health and safety of our community and visitors.
A decision regarding the Night Show will be postponed until June 1, at which time we will determine if the show can be postponed to a later date in 2020. Updates will be provided as decisions are finalized.
As a committee, we have relied on the festival’s rich history to lead us throughout this decision process. The Orange City Tulip Festival did not take place during World War II years. Instead, this period in our history was a time where families and communities focused on coming together in practical and meaningful ways. Today, we do the same. We pause, take care of each other and find creative ways for the spirit of the festival to live on throughout the days and weeks to come. We are Vibrant Together, and we know the festival will take on an even greater meaning when we return to celebrate our 80th anniversary in 2021.
Like many of you, we are grieving our normal routines and daily life, but together we have hope. We know the Lord has been in this year’s festival preparations, and we trust He will continue to lead our community and country in the days, weeks and years to come. Throughout this crisis, we have seen the Lord’s goodness, and His goodness will prevail.
During this time, we are working to provide clear and consistent information for our guests, vendors and volunteers. We thank you for your patience, and we thank you for your continued care for the Orange City Tulip Festival.
Reese and Cristi Kelch
