Name: Rebecca Boersma

Parents: Joel and Angela Boersma

Hobbies & Interests: I spend most of my free time reading, baking, and playing the piano, but I also enjoy spending time outside and traveling with my family, school, and youth group. 

School Activities: Through school I am involved in soccer, band, jazz band, orchestra, choir, speech, National Honor Society, plays, and musicals. I also participated in Iowa Girl’s State Representative for the American Auxiliary Legion.

Spare Time Activities: I have quite a few activities outside of school. I work and babysit often throughout the week. I also spend a lot of time volunteering at First Reformed Church by teaching kindergarteners, playing my viola or the piano on praise team, and helping in nursery.

Education/Career Plans: I want to go to a four year university in order to graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree. My dream for the future is work as a pediatric nurse or a NICU nurse.

Past Tulip Festival Participation: I have participated in every Tulip Festival that I can remember. When I was younger, I would scrub streets with my mom, ride floats through the school, and participate in Dutch Games. I also started street marching and Dutch dancing in 6th grade. In high school I started participating in Dutch Dozen by being apart of the lights crew for a year and then singing and dancing the past two years.
